Amber Hour is built to work without knowing who you are. There is no account, no sign-in and no tracking. This page explains exactly what the app does with your data.

What the app uses your location for

Amber Hour needs an approximate location to calculate sunrise, sunset, golden hour and blue hour, because those times depend on where you are on Earth. The app asks iOS only for a reduced-accuracy location — not your exact position.

You can also skip location access entirely and type in a fixed place instead.

Where your location goes

Your location is stored only on your device, so the app and its widgets can use it. It is not uploaded to any server operated by us — we do not run one.

Two exceptions leave your device, both only as coordinates and never with any identifier attached to you:

• Weather forecast. If you use the Pro weather feature, the coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to fetch the cloud cover forecast. See the Open-Meteo terms.
• Place name. The coordinates are sent to Apple's geocoding service to turn them into a place name such as "Copenhagen". This is handled by iOS and covered by Apple's privacy policy.

What we do not do

• No accounts, no sign-in, no profile
• No advertising and no ad identifiers
• No analytics or tracking of any kind
• No sale or sharing of personal data — we never receive it in the first place

Purchases

Amber Hour Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. The app only records on your own device whether the purchase is active.

Notifications

Reminders before golden hour are scheduled locally by your iPhone. Nothing is sent through a server, and you can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.

Children

The app is rated 4+ and collects no personal data, so it is safe for all ages.

Your rights

Because the app stores everything on your device and we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to hand over or delete. Deleting the app removes the stored location and settings. If you want to revoke location access without deleting the app, you can do so in iOS Settings.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated and the new version will appear on this page.
